Back to School Brunch 2015

I decided to throw a little "Back to School Brunch" for some of my daughter's friends.  It was very last minute, but everyone really liked the idea.  I think I just set myself up for another annual event!  :)

The girls made daisy pens and custom clip boards as a project.

Tatum's "Spa"Tacular 7th Birthday

It has been awhile since I have been on the blogging scene, but I keep getting requests to jump back in.  I am going to try to keep up with this better and add some of my past crafts and party ideas.

My daughter just celebrated her 7th birthday this past week.  She chose a Spa Themed party.  The girls had a wonderful time getting pampered.  Here are the highlights of her party.

Each year I create a party themed wreath or door hanger.  This year I chose a door hanger idea.  I purchased a scroll wooden frame from Michael's along with their white wood letters (T for Tatum and Spa in smaller letters).  I painted the frame and letters as shown and then added a printed chevron paper background to the frame.

As each girl arrived they were provided a Spa Tatum Robe and Pink Flip Flops with Black Bow Ribbon.

Spa Robe - This was made using a men's small black t-shirt (Walmart $3.50 a shirt).  I cut the shirt up the front center and around the neck line.  Then I used the ribbon of my choice and secured it around the edges with no sew glue.  As a final touch I cut out the silohouette image from pink fabric and used the spray Therm o Web to secure the image to the shirt.  To keep the shirts closed I cut Velcro strips and used the no sew glue to secure to the shirt. Each shirt was hung on a black hanger with a pink ribbon bow tied around the hanger neck.

Once the girls were dressed in their robes they all grabbed a plate of food.  Food served included the following:  Build your own yogurt parfait (I used plastic champagne glasses which the girls LOVED - they had a choice of strawberry, blueberry and granola to add to their parfait), quiche, build your own sandwich, chips, and Luau Punch (I doubled the recipe but for one serving it calls for one large can of pineapple juice, 2 Liter Sprite, and half a frozen can of OJ).

While eating each girl soaked their feet in their own spa tub.  Created using Dollar Tree dish tub with custom stickers showing Spa Tatum and the child's name. Each child was provided their tub at the end of the party to take home and enjoy their own Spa Day at home.

Lunch was served on our patio.  I used pink plastic tablecloths with wrapping paper as a runner down the table.  Centerpieces were boxes wrapped with the same wrapping paper and stuffed with crumpled up newspaper and pink tissue paper out of the top.  I used styrofoam squares inside to hold the Spa Tatum Sign.  Chair covers were pink bows from extra plastic tablecloths.

Once the girls were finished with lunch they each dried off their feet and came back inside to Spa Tatum.  I used a large drop cloth (Walmart $7) to cover my living room floor. Each girl took a spot on the drop cloth to begin their Spa Treatment.

To start the Spa Fun we played Musical Toenails.  I had 3 helpers that were assigned to a group of 3 girls.  These helpers would do each of the spa services for the girls they were assigned to throughout the party.  Each girl was provided a bottle of nail polish.  Music was played and each girl passed the bottles around the circle.  When the music stops whatever color nail polish the child is holding is what will be painted on the big toes.  Then the music begins again and once the music stops the next toe is painted and so forth.  The game turned out great and the nails looked pretty neat on each girl.  A must purchase was the Ulta Professional Nail Dry spray to quickly dry the girls nails.

After the toenail game, each girl was provided a Spa Menu to select their manicure style and facial option.

Helpers painted the nails according the girls request and again the Spray Nail Dry was used to dry the nails quickly.

To give the nails extra time to dry we played a game of spa bingo before doing facials.

After two rounds of bingo we were ready for the facials.  Each girl was provided a hair band to pull their hair back (they got to keep these at the end of the party).  We used two very mild facial creams that the girls picked from: Freeman Avocado and Oatmeal Clay Mask and Chocolate and Strawberry Clay Mask. Of course we had to get a picture of this!!!

We used makeup remover wipes to remove the face mask.  It takes about 7-8 wipes per face.  The girls absolutely loved seeing their faces in the mirror.

Now for the goodie bag!!!!  Each bucket contained 4 plastic containers, 1 with Bath Salts, 1 with Bubble Bath, 1 with Bath Gel and 1 with Lotion.  I also make a custom coloring book each year with items from the theme of the party and the first page contains a picture of the birthday girl as a coloring page.  A personalized candy bar wrapper and candy bar, and hugs and kisses baggie with custom topper.
